Homemade beef jerky recipes are a great nutritional snack. They are low in cholesterol and high in protein. Beef jerky is a wonderful energy food while biking, skiing, or times when you feel like nibbling something.

Over the recent years, jerky (commonly made out of beef) has turned out to be a highly preferred snack for many Americans. It is a great resource for proteins, since producers remove all the fat and moisture from the beef jerky before supplying it to you.

However, most store bought jerky has added chemical preservatives, which can eliminate some nutritional benefits contained in the jerky. Hence, it is better to reduce usage of chemical preservatives in beef jerky and you can do this by making beef jerky homemade.

Homemade Beef Jerky Recipe:

Ingredients:

1.	Four pounds of flank steak
2.	Two teaspoons of black pepper
3.	Two teaspoons of chili powder
4.	Two teaspoons of cayenne pepper (add more if you prefer spicy food)
5.	Two teaspoons of garlic powder
6.	Two teaspoons of onion powder
7.	One teaspoon of liquid smoke
8.	Half cup of low sodium Soya Sauce
9.	Half cup of Worcestershire

Directions to Prepare:

3.	The meat needs to be half inch thick.
4.	Cut the partly frozen meat.
5.	Pound meat gently and do not make it very thin.
6.	Add all above-mentioned ingredients in a big bowl and mix them well.
7.	Cover and store at a low temperature overnight (nearly eight hours).
8.	Line the cookie sheets with a tin foil.
9.	Keep meat pieces on these cookie sheets and do not overlap meat.
10.	Set the microwave oven at low temperature, preferably 150-175°F.
11.	Bake for six hours, turning meat pieces for every three hours.
12.	It is ready to serve when it dries out.

The teriyaki beef jerky recipe is popular for many reasons. It tastes great and is nutritious as it contains lots of protein, low carbohydrates and is low in calories. Moreover, you need not necessarily store the recipe in the refrigerator, so it is an ideal choice especially when you are traveling. You can easily prepare this recipe at home and here are few quick steps so you can make a great teriyaki beef jerky recipe at home.

It requires the following ingredients:

One-pound broiled beef
One tablespoon of brown sugar
¼ teaspoon of peeper (coarse black)
One teaspoon of onion powder (avoid onion salt)
½ teaspoon of garlic powder (avoid garlic salt)
One tablespoon of corn syrup
One teaspoon of salt
½-cup orange juice without pulp
One teaspoon of soy sauce
One teaspoon of liquid smoke
¼-cup water
2/3 cup of teriyaki marinade (Kikkoman)

Instructions to prepare the beef jerky:

Slice the beef into 1/8 – 1/4 -inch strips. Place all dry ingredients in a glass bowl (avoid metal utensils). Next, add the liquid ingredients and salt in the glass bowl and blend it thoroughly. Put the pieces of beef in the bowl and apply the mixture to it. Cover the bowl and keep it in the refrigerator for about 24-36 hours.

Remove the bowl from refrigerator. Pat the beef pieces with a towel to remove any extra moisture. Next, place the beef pieces on the racks of your dehydrator for around 4 to 8 hours. Turn the racks after every one hour. To test it, fold the beef jerky piece into half. When you fold, it needs to bend and not crack. It must also not show any sign of reddishness.

Remove the beef pieces, allow them to cool and then store them in an airtight container. To make over one pound of teriyaki beef jerky, double the amount of ingredients so that the sauce is enough to cover the beef pieces.

Use this method to make delicious teriyaki beef jerky recipe at home.
